Luang Prabang - The course “Promoting Rural Development: sustainable tourism and short food supply chains” took place from the 22nd until the 26th of may for the first time in Asia, in the city of Luang Prabang in Laos. The training course has been organized by the International Training Center of the International Labor Organization (ITC-ILO), the ILO Regional Office for Asia and the Pacific, the ILO Office in Vientiane and Rimisp - Latinamerican Center for Rural Development (Rimisp) through the Territorial Development with Cultural Identity Program (TD-CI). The main purpose of the course was the creation of a space of mutual knowledge exchange about short food supply chains and sustainable tourism concepts and practices analyizing the challenges and opportunities of their articulation and interaction. 33 participants coming from 9 different countries of Asia ( Cambodia, Philippines, Indonesia, Lao, Malaysia, Myanmar, Thailand, Sri Lanka and Vietnam) joined the activity sharing their good practices and knowledge.
